Graduation weekend update

5/6/2018

What a great weekend in the Smoky Mountains watching my daughter Jordan graduate from Johnson University! She graduated Summa Cum Laude - I'm not sure exactly what that means because when I graduated no additional initials were read after my name was called - but I think it means she did pretty good academically. To say I am proud of my daughter is an understatement! I'm actually still in Tennessee and will not return to Illinois until Tuesday late afternoon, just in time for my son Peyton's final awards night at Mt. Pulaski High School. Times are changing for the Taylor family and I'm jut glad I'm along for the ride!

I want to share briefly about Jordan and the events that led up to this weekend briefly tonight. Most of you know I both attended and worked for Lincoln Christian University and I always hoped Jordan would follow in my footsteps and attend LCU. But she had others plans. One day I asked her why she wasn't more excited about going to LCU - her answer surprised me. She said, "dad, when I walk on the campus of LCU, everyone knows me as 'Greg Taylor's daughter' - I want to go somewhere and just be Jordan." I tried to convince her being known as my daughter was actually a good thing - these people like me, and they like you! But she was having none of it. And so she decided to attend Johnson University and Marla and I were very thankful for her choice.

Let me fast forward four and a half years - a pretty cool thing happened to me over the past couple of weeks. I encountered five different people on two separate trips to the Johnson area and each encounter included the same comment: "Oh, you are Jordan Taylor's dad" - and then each person told me what a special young woman she was and how thankful they were she attended Johnson. The labels changed - now I'm Jordan Taylor's dad - and a very proud dad at that! I am blessed - my cup overflows.

Several quick reminders:
