Just checked the weather app on my phone and I read a beautiful thing: 80 degree weather is being forecast for the first day of May tomorrow! What a blessing considering this late March and April brought more snow than I can remember any spring during my life! After an almost seven and a half month hiatus, I was finally able to start cycling again this weekend and before long, the grills will be fired up and warm weather will become a new reality! And I'm pretty sure many of us will begin complaining how hot it is! lol
Several upcoming opportunities and/or programs at FCC for you to be aware of and to take advantage of:
TUESDAY May 1
** Rotary Chicken Dinner - Nelson's catering drive-thru meal is one of a kind! And each ticket purchased helps local food pantries in DeWitt County. Rotary's goal this year is to give at least $2,000.00 to our local food banks, including the food pantry at the Neighborhood Care Center!
** Area Men's Fellowship - at 6:30pm at Little Galilee - calling ALL men to join us for a great meal and an inspirational message!
FRIDAY May 4 - Young at Heart! Everyone over 55 is welcome to attend and join us for a great morning featuring the music of Taylor Quinn! Cody Monkman will be sharing the devo and Marcia and Jan will have another great morning waiting for you! Bring a desert to share.
SATURDAY May 5 - our 2nd annual Mother/Daughter banquet featuring Jill Savage, founder of Hearts at Home and national speaker. Tickets are still available - call the FCC office for more info!
SUNDAY May 6 - special guest speaker Peter Cocco, formerly of Encounter/ISU. Pete is a great communicator and will be bringing a message you will NOT want to miss!

SERVE Opportunities - we talk all the time about being a church that promotes and practices EVERY MEMBER MINISTRY - here are some opportunities where YOU can serve and get plugged in:
** OUTSIDE Communion - did you know that EVERY Sunday Tim Hoyt and his team take communion to shut in's, the nursing home and our local hospital? And we are in desperate need of more team members. We will train you! And you will absolutely be blessed! Call the FCC office if you are interested in getting plugged in!
** POST OFFICE Food Drive - Saturday May 12 - we need folks who will help Cody as we participate in the annual Post Office food drive - contact Cody if you are interested in serving.
** May Mobile Food Pantry at the American Legion - Saturday May 19 - FCC is in charge during May - can you serve from 9am until noon?
** FLOWERS - we are looking for folks w/ a green thumb to help make the FCC property as beautiful as possible - contact Dana Korneman or call the FCC office if interested.
** Funeral Dinners - we are always looking for folks who will prepare dishes/deserts for funeral dinners - if you are willing and able, contact the church office.
** Computer/Sound System - if you are good w/ a computer and would like to serve in the sound box on Sunday's, contact Samuel Green and we will see if you are a fit!
Some personal points - two thoughts as I wrap up this morning:
#1 - it is so good and encouraging to see the improvement Ernie Harvey is making! He returns to work today! And will be back in the pulpit preaching at Kenney on May 13! Praise the Lord!
#2 - what a crazy season for the Taylor family! Beginning this week, we are in an almost six week journey that will include a high school graduation (May 19), a college graduation (May 5), a wedding (June 9) and hopefully, a return trip to the state track and field meet (late May). Will you take a minute and pray for us, and especially my wife Marla? We could use each and every prayer!
blessings to you - have a great week!
