Late July weekly update

7/30/2018

Sunday wrapped up our July journey on the topic of POWER, more than simply Pardon. My prayer for our church and for YOU is simply this: allow the POWER of the Gospel to continue to bring change and transformation to YOUR life! Don't ever settle for a life anything less than the very best in the Lord. Life really doesn't have to be "just the way it is" - the Gospel can (and will) make ALL the difference in the world!

Yesterday brought another baptism and another membership transfer. First service on Sunday was a little different in terms of the worship service - Ruth Davidson did a great job putting together a team and leading us in a wonderful worship experience - great job Ruth! Our 10:45am service featured a wonderful response song to our message on the WORD, one of my favorites - "Ancient Words" by Michael W Smith. Great job Samuel Green!

We were blessed to have Carl and Ronalynn Stevens with us yesterday - the Stevens are monthly mission partners who serve in the Philippines - thanks to everyone who encouraged the Stevens! At 9:30am, we hosted our latest edition of Discover FCC - several gathered to learn about our History, Theology and Ministry opportunities at FCC!

The months of August and September will bring difficult messages from the book of James - not difficult because the texts are hard to understand, but rather difficult to live out. I would encourage you to spend time in the book of James leading up to this Sunday, and each Sunday over the next 9 weeks. My prayer is God's Word - and especially this teaching from the brother of Jesus - will stretch each of you, no matter how long we have been follower of Jesus. Truly hoping the line from the song on Sunday will ring true in our hearts and lives the next couple of months: "Ancient words - ever true - changing me and changing you"!

This Saturday, our Men's mission trip team leaves for Mexico to build two houses with former FCC Youth Minister Scott Dewitt and his ministry Casas Por Cristo - praying for both health/safety but also life transformation! Thanks to Gage Lyons and Ryan Sosaman for making this ministry opportunity happen!

The month of August brings our next elective class at 9:30am on Sundays on PRAYER - check out this great option to grow in both understanding and practice!

August 7 - Area Men's Fellowship at 6:30pm at College Park CC in Normal - Clinton FCC will host Area Men's in September on Tuesday September 4

August 18 - Mobile Food Pantry at the American Legion - FCC is in charge of workers - can you help from 9am -noon?

August 18 - the Clinton Y is sponsoring both a 5k and a Triathlon at Clinton Lake - don't miss this great opportunity right here in DeWitt County!

August 19 - Little Galilee Connections event for EVERYONE at LGCC from 4-7pm - the Zipline and the Pool will be open and you are welcome to bring a picnic supper!

August 30 - September 1 - Fundraiser bike ride to support the 2020 Vision at Little Galilee - will you help me raise money for the Dining Hall project?

August 31 - September 3 - Family Camp at Little Galilee!

September 9 - the 4th annual FCC Block Party will take place in our parking lot from 5-7pm!

October 21 - Fan the Flame at FCC featuring Carrollton - spread the word!

November 18 - Coming Home Sunday! 9:30am ONE service Sunday; 11:30am Fellowship Lunch (catered); 1pm Afternoon gathering.

Have a great week - see you Sunday!
