Blessings to you on this sticky Monday morning! Hoping and praying this week brings blessings for you and an opportunity to be a blessing to others, or as we looked at yesterday in James 1, an opportunity to be an ambassador of comfort and encouragement in a dark and discouraging world. This Sunday, we look at verses 13-18 and the topic of Temptation, another "trial" Christians face. And it is so very important we "pass this test" - so much is at stake!
Several thoughts this morning:
** Continue to pray for our Men's Mission trip to Mexico w/ Casas por Cristo and former FCC YM Scott DeWitt!
** Men, tomorrow night (Tuesday August 7) is the monthly Area Men's fellowship at 6:30pm at College Park CC in Normal. Just an FYI, Clinton FCC is hosting the September Area Men's gathering on the 4th.
** BSF is coming (back) to Clinton this fall! Last year, our building hosted a ladies group on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8pm. This year, we are honored to host both Women's and Men's groups on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8pm beginning Tuesday September 11. Here are a couple of facts about BSF:
- BSF stands for Bible Study Fellowship - a 90 minute weekly gathering where the Bible is studied - there is weekly homework required between meetings.
- BSF is NOT an FCC thing, although many from FCC will attend! It is simply Christians from all over and from different churches gathering together to study the Bible.
- BSF is an international ministry not tied to any denomination or "brand" of Christianity.
- If you are interested, you will need to sign up through BSF - contact our office and they will get you everything you need!
- On a personal note, I am so thankful we are able to host these gatherings! God has blessed us with a wonderful facility and we are so looking forward to being a blessing! Good stuff!
** Monthly Mobile Food Pantry on Saturday August 18 at the American Legion - FCC is in charge of volunteers - can you help from 9am until noon?
** Little Galilee Connections Event on Sunday August 19 from 4-7pm - Zipline, Pool, Taco Truck! ALL from the church are invited and encouraged to attend!
** Myself and several area minister's are attempting to raise $100,000.00 for Little Galilee and their 2020 Vision for a new dining hall as part of a fundraiser Bike ride August 30 - September 1! If you are interested in giving toward this, please let me know.
** 4th annual FCC Block Party will take place on Sunday September 9 from 5-7pm at FCC!
** FCC will once again host the Beth Moore simulcast on Saturday September 15 and once again, you can attend for FREE thanks to generosity of a local Christian businessman! Spread the word!
** Fan the Flame will return to FCC on Sunday evening October 21 at 6pm featuring Carrollton!
** Coming Home Sunday - November 18 - Brent Zastrow and David Mabon will be our special guest speakers!
Three quick reminders as I conclude this morning:
#1 - don't forget about the blessing of Coffee at the Crossing led by Emilee Monkman! You can get coffee and all kinds of coffee drinks each and every Sunday morning at FCC and the money raised from your donations is giving to monthly mission partners! I call that a WIN-WIN!
#2 - With our new safety and security policy, please remember access to the FCC building is more limited than previously, and this is a good thing. That said, we want you to be able to have access to the building when needed for legitimate reasons. Please communicate your needs to the office - 935-3139 - we will do everything in our power to help you! Please plan ahead!
#3 - Rooted is returning very soon! The next launch will be on Sunday September 9 - if you did not do Rooted last time, will you prayerfully consider being a part of this experience? You won't regret it!
Have a great week!
