This week's update will be shorter than usual - I'm trying to get home from Maryland for Rooted tonight at 6:30pm. So, here are several thoughts and reminders:
* What a great visit to the Naval Academy w/ Peyton this weekend - very impressive place! We are not sure where Peyton will end up but I loved the father/son time and I couldn't believe my eyes in Annapolis! Special thanks to coach Campbell and the Midshipmen who made both of us feel so welcome!
* I had a lot of down time - the visit was really for Peyton to experience the life of a Midshipman - without pops being around too much. So, I had the chance to visit Baltimore, DC and Gettysburg - wonderful places with so much history! I had never been to Gettysburg before - a very somber experience for me personally. Hard to visualize a three day battle in 1863 where 51,000 died - 51,000 in 3 days! All the more thankful for a leader like Abraham Lincoln who was able to hold the country together!
Several events THIS week:
** RELOAD for men - Tuesday morning at 6am! Come HUNGRY! Both physically and spiritually!
** Seniors Day at LGCA - Wednesday - are you in? We have room w/ you w/ Young at Heart!
** Ladies Night Out - Thursday evening in the Family Life Center at 6:30pm - come on out ladies!
** Sunday - our final message on FCC's Big 3 - looking at Anger.
Just around the corner:
** Sunday November 5 - A "Martin Luther message" around the 500 year anniversary of the 95 Theses
** Sunday November 12 - Discover FCC at 9:30am in the Family Life Center Alcove
** Sunday November 19 - CAMA Thanksgiving service at 6pm at the Methodist church.
Finally this morning - I was saddened to learn about the passing of Dixie Montgomery - for 60 years Dixie was the organist at our church and her impact cannot be put into words! So much could and hopefully will be said over the days and weeks to come. I'm personally thankful for Dixie and her heart for worship! Area Men's fellowship at Clinton will NOT be the same without Dixie! Christmas Eve communion will NOT be the same without Dixie! Thank you Dixie for loving the Lord with all your heart through the instrument of the organ!
Have a great week - see you Sunday!
Weekly update on what's happening at FCC! Glad you're here!
