It's camp week - weekly update

6/24/2018

Shorter blog post than usual - it's camp week and I have almost 100 5th and 6th Graders waiting for me and those from Clinton FCC leading this week of camp. For me, this is my 20th straight year of serving as either preacher or dean of this week of camp - and I have loved each and every week! For years, Ernie Harvey was our fearless dean, and in recent years, Cody Monkman and now Allison Hitchings have assumed the leadership role. The one constant is this: watching several campers each year make the decision to become followers of Jesus and be baptized. And that is my prayer for 2018 camp as well - will you join me in this prayer?

Several things:

** Back to the Basics elective - we have 40 attend on week 1 and 51 were part of the session today - praise the Lord! And there is absolutely room for you next week! Join us in the Family Life Center Alcove as we conclude our study on the Bible and begin looking at Prayer and what it means to practice the spiritually disciplined life. This coming week, special guests John Rodgers and Rachel Emery will bless us!

** Blood Pressure checks - normally the first Sunday of each month, we will offer them on Sunday July 8 - please adjust accordingly!

** New sermon series at FCC begins this Sunday - POWER, more than just PARDON. Week one - the power of SHALOM - we will look at how PEACE can make all the difference in the world!

** Congregational meeting results:

Both Allison and Cassandra's hiring as full time ministry was overwhelmingly affirmed:

Allison Hitchings - 94% - 281 YES; 15 NO

Cassandra Benton - 92% - 277 YES; 24 NO

Here are the results of the Eldership vote:

Gage Lyons - 94% - 273 YES; 15 NO

Jim Taylor - 93% - 275 YES; 18 NO

Ryan Sosaman - 92% - 275 YES; 21 NO

Jim Weikel - 81% - 235 YES; 54 NO

Dick Koritz - 67% - 198 YES; 94 NO

If you have any questions, please contact any of the Elders. And pray for each of these men, along with current Elders Mark Witzke, Mark Behrends and Dana Korneman that we may have a spirit of unity and Christ-like humility from our leadership in 2018-2019.

Huge thanks to the following men who go on sabbatical beginning July 1: Ken Klein, Nate Bostic, John Rodgers and Tim Wenthe - these men love your church without condition and have earned a break! I'm thankful for the hard work of each of these men!

Have a great week - see you Sunday!
