Snow? In April? No Joke!

4/2/2018

What a great day yesterday turned out to be in so many different ways! For the first time since 1956, Easter Sunday fell on April 1- no joke! And I'm pretty sure this will turn out to be an Easter most of us won't soon forget! Chestnut was "blessed" with about 4 inches of snow and as of 6am this morning, the temperature was 14 degrees and the roads and sidewalks were icy and slick! I'm guessing Peyton won't have a track/field meet this afternoon? I'll say one thing about weather in Illinois - it ALWAYS keeps you guessing and shaking your head! lol

But yesterday wasn't about the snow - or the family gatherings - or a bunny. Yesterday was about celebrating the Resurrection! And yesterday at Clinton FCC was a great day and it was really about just one person: Jesus. Nothing more, nothing less, nothing else. Jesus. So many people helped make both services yesterday memorable, but again, it was about one person: Jesus.

** Thanks to Ruth Davidson on many levels: Thank you for leading the choir, thank you for planning the 8:15am service, thank you for playing the organ - talk about wearing several different hats! Well done Ruth!

** Thanks to the choir for sharing three specials in song, thanks to Marcia Wise for singing a solo, thanks to Patty Sunderland for playing the piano, thanks to Mark Behrends for leading singing - our 8:15am service was a blessing!

** Thanks to Samuel Green for always wearing several hats - thanks for running the tech side of things at 8:15am service, thanks for planning and leading the 10:45am service and thanks for continuing to champion Rooted! Thanks to all who were  a part of the 10:45am service, and special thanks to Matt Kane, Samuel's right hand man! Worship at 10:45am service moved so many - dozens shared their comments w/ me following the service one way or another - and what a great way to end the service - almost 600 people singing with passion "I ran out of that grave!" Amen.

** Thanks to all the behind-the-scenes folks who worked really hard yesterday - our ushers, our greeters, those who prepared extra communion. Easter is a blessing, but finding seats for everyone - especially at 10:45am service - was really tough yesterday - great job everyone!

** Thanks to Becky Glenn for sharing her testimony about Rooted and specifically about our church elders and their spouses who participated in the first FCC Rooted group last fall. TODAY is the deadline to register for next Sunday's church wide roll out of Rooted - we are hoping for 100 this spring - there is still time for YOU to sign up! Contact Samuel at the church if you are still interested - we can make this happen!

** Thanks most of all to Jesus Christ - our Lord and Savior - that is what yesterday was ALL about! Nothing more, nothing less, nothing else! I can't wait to share throughout the month of April on Sunday mornings as we look at some of Paul's teaching about Jesus - we will be in Galatians 2, Ephesians 2, Philippians 2 and Colossians 2 so plan now to join us!

** This Tuesday April 3 - Area Men's Fellowship at Lane CC at 6:30pm! All men are welcome!

** Young at Heart returns THIS Friday at 10:30am in the Family Life Center! I really hope if you are 55 or over you will join us this Friday!

** The 2018 Intentional Church Conference is less than three weeks away - you can still join us on April 21! All fees paid by FCC - all you need to do is attend! What a deal!

** Fan the Flame - Sunday night April 22 at 6pm at FCC, featuring Jason Gray and Chris August! Get your tickets now!

** Rotary sponsored Nelson's chicken dinner drive-thru fundraiser - Tuesday May 1 from 4;30pm-6pm - pick up at Clinton Jr High - money raised supports local food banks - including FCC's! Tix are just $10!

** Saturday May 5 - mother/daughter banquet at FCC!

Have a great week - see you Sunday!
Sign up TODAY for Rooted - its not too late!

blessings,

GT
